PRAYER OF INVOCATION for
BALTIMORE POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE
CLASS of 1969 50th REUNION
as delivered by Paul Edgar...
O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! Psalm 8:1 a
Dear Heavenly Father,
You have brought us all a long, long way from our commencement ceremony on that rainy June evening at the Baltimore Civic Center back in 1969. And You have re-gathered us here tonight on this very happy occasion, fifty years later.
You have blessed us with a unique education at our beloved Baltimore Polytechnic Institute; You have established us in our respective callings and professions; You have given us friendships, spouses, children, homes, prosperity, and so much more along our respective journeys.
Tonight, it is with grateful hearts that we acknowledge Your Hand of blessing in all these things. Thank You for our many instructors at BPI, for the school’s administrative staff, and especially for our parents, who guided us through that crazy period of our lives.
May Your Presence, which is the happiness of every occasion, be with us abundantly – this evening and always.
May You guide us during our remaining days to be faithful to Your covenant laws, and to live in grateful appreciation for all.
You have so graciously given us.
May our children, and our children’s children, always be Yours.
And may this abundant food, which we are about to enjoy, empower us for further service in the sure and certain advance of Your Kingdom here on earth.
Blessed art Thou, O Lord our God, King of the Universe, Who brings forth bread from the earth – and the Living Bread from Heaven. Amen.
